Grant St ChicagoAbout Grant St ChicagoThis was a full home remodel for client who had just relocated from San Francisco They requested a contemporary open plan flowing family space with a lot more openness and light. Complete kitchen remodel included changing the kitchen layout & removing existing walls The new design concept was to create a feature wall where the range & cooking took place & to make the adjacent wall disappear into the room and conceal multiple functionary disciplines. To make the range wall subtle but also have a ‘WOW” factor- custom bronze cabinet fronts sit below the beautiful quartz clad countertop & a complete porcelain clad range wall with floating shelves accented by being wrapped in custom bronze ribbons were designed above. The bronze ribbons were designed to highlight the similar metal detail on the base of the sofa also designed by Pipa Bradbury for Meritalia Furniture Milan The range wall included a custom hood clad in 6mm large format porcelain statuario slab and custom bronze side panels A new full height adjacent cabinetry wall was made in Shaker style painted cabinets to conceal a Personal computer station behind sliding pocket doors, a refrigerator/freezer, an appliance station and a pantry breakfast nook station. Deep drawers allow fully functional pantry storage below & ample space for the many appliances the client had making them all on easy access The adjacent corner was opened up to make a Butler’s pantry/wine & coffee station. To maximize the feeling of space in this otherwise small area, the design included custom bronze shelves to match the kitchen cabinets and antique mirror glass backsplash to reflect the light and dining room All floating shelves have concealed LED lighting strips to provide excellent 3000K lighting and bronze hardware was used throughout to tie into custom cabinetry. The family room fireplace also has a custom bronze mantel highlighting the warm tones & made to extend the kitchen space into the family room |
